The Red-tailed Hawks have been living and breeding in Green-Wood for years. There are generally two or three born in the cemetery each year and the parents are failrly tolerant of them staying around for a year or so. This is a very small sampling of my pictures because they are ever present and not particularly shy subjects.
Their signature red tail takes about three years to completely grow in. As juveniles the tails are striped brown and with successive molts they will gain the rich redish feathers.
